Chinese calligraphy handwriting

Chinese calligraphy handwriting is widely used in China for rehabilitation in a lot of areas including stroke and autism. A researcher in Hong Kong using Chinese calligraphy handwriting helped a case of rehabilitative awakening of a coma patient after stroke. The calligraphy handwriting training may provide favorable alternative conditions for cognitive rehabilitation.

It is reported that in countries and regions using English or other alphabetic language, the incidence is ranging from 7% to 15%, while much lower in countries and regions speaking Chinese e (a logographic rather than alphabetic writing system)- with the prevalence of dyslexia is 2% to 7%.  According to a research published in Nature, MRI findings showed that Chinese reading entails coherent and orchestrated activities of key neuroanatomical modules relating to orthography, semantics and phonology.
